Taylor Jaffe brings a unique combination of aesthetic and work ethic to Snowdance Farm.
Taylor works as part of a team or takes the lead in ensuring the health and well-being of the poultry and animals on the farm. From daily chores such as ensuring all the animals are properly fed and watered to rehabilitating injured animals, Taylor brings an optimistic compassion to the farm.
Taylor also takes the lead in ensuring that the farm’s flora and fauna looks great during the summer months when the farm is open for tours. By helping to maintain the beauty and vibrance of the property, Taylor ensures the animals always have clean pasture for grazing as well as optimal locations for photo shoots. Taylor has been instrumental in shooting, editing, and posting photos and updates to the farm instagram, @snowdancefarm.
Taylor is a member of Colgate University’s Class of 2020. We look forward to seeing what Taylor accomplishes during her last year of college and are excited to see where her experiences take her!
Theo Jaffe assists with the production aspects of the farm.
A 2019 graduate of St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware, Theo has been described by a faculty member as a farmboy, scholar and superhero. Here on the farm, Theo is our rotational grazing master.
He assists with the daily tasks of feeding and moving all animals to new paddocks so they get the best outdoor living experience the land has to offer. For example, he moves the three-week-old chicks from the brooder house to the field, ensuring that they have fresh grass on a daily basis.
Theo also coordinates the order in which the sheep and other animals are rotated on pastures to ensure sustainable animal husbandry and land use practices. An expert pig catcher, he brings the strategy, agility, speed and muscle power that is necessary to secure pigs that are living in the woods and open pasture.
This fall, Theo will be heading to Duke University as a member of the class of 2023.
